the end of maternity leave + baby yoda

So it turns out I wanna try this whole blog thing.

I’ve dreamt of updating a blog of my own about my art or a hobby of mine or something since I was a young teen who followed blogs, but never really had anything to talk about. Welp, now I’m a tattooer, and maybe nobody cares, but I’m going to shout into the void regardless because I think it’s fun. LOL.

Anyway! I’m back from maternity leave, friends!

So much has happened in four months. Well, the first month, I was super sick with COVID — 0/10 experience.

The last three have been magical. Really. I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to be present with my daughter, and to mindfully spend these first months of her life focusing only on her. She is everything I expected and so much more. She is so full of smiles and personality already. The little bugger has stolen my heart ten times over.

This week, my baby is three, 3!!! months old! That means I am crawling out of the hole (my house) that I have been hiding in for four months.

So, this week, I went back to work! I did a baby Yoda-Grogu-whatever-you-wanna-call-him tattoo on my friend/coworker/apprentice, Calla. I’d been bugging everyone on the planet to let me do a tattoo of this cute little fucker for MONTHS. I’m so stoked with how it turned out.

I’m not gonna lie, there was a teensy bit of nervousness about returning to working and booking and all of that. I mean, what if I forgot how to converse with a person who isn’t a few weeks old?!

But my nerves were for nothing. As soon as I walked back into the shop, saw all my little plants (NONE of which are little anymore — this summer has caused all of my plants to erupt into a giant jungle overtaking my waiting area), and picked up the tattoo machine, it was as if I had never left work. 5 minutes in, I wasn’t even thinking about the fact that I’d been gone for four months.

Anyways — my books open, for the first time in many months, this afternoon. I’m so excited to see all the new ideas. I’m stoked to see all my old clients, and also to meet some newbies!

The flash book was a big success (yay!!) and I’m so thankful that I get to do a good mixture of fun flash pieces and new custom pieces when I return! I already know I have at least two new sleeves coming, which is SO FUN. The rest of 2021 is going to be so much fun and I am so jittery with anticipation to post the booking link. Eep!

Booking link is to be posted at noon! It’ll be on www.caseybressotattoo.com/booking, or you can click the pretty “booking” button up in the corner of my site (or in the navigation, if you’re on mobile). See y’all there!
